Promotional Tatsunoko Cels
In addition to production cels, over the years Tatsunoko has released a variety of promotional cels. These cels come in all sorts of varieties (and in all price ranges). Some were created as presents for children who visited the Tatsunoko offices, while others were used for different purposes. Here is a variety of some of my favorites.
This is from Gatchaman II. It was created as a color guide in the production of promotional signboards. The white areas are unpainted.
This is a hand inked promotional cel of Joe. It was most probably used for a book/magazine illustration. Based on the detail in this cel, I'd say it was the only one created.
These two cels are regular-sized promos of Joe. They came complete with the green backgrounds pictured.
Casshan and Flender point towards the future! This cel has a beautiful background of the cosmos.
Here's Polymer! He's ram tough!
The four cels below are oversized promotional cels done during the 70's. They are fairly common and turn up from time to time. They are not production cels, but some jokers out there try to pass them off as such. Don't be fooled!! (Still, they are pretty darn cool looking!)
